OUR PHILOSOPHY

At The Artificial Realists, we firmly believe that AI literacy is crucial for our collective future. Understandably, people have strong opinions and feelings about AI. Both fears and excitement are warranted, as AI has the potential to solve humanity’s greatest challenges, as well as inflict unprecedented harm. This is why AI literacy is needed. The more society understands how individual AI models are built and implemented, the more influential we can be when voting on AI policy, when drafting thoughtful certifications to increase AI’s use for positive impact, and when approving certain licenses to ensure people get compensated for data used to train models.

AI isn’t one “thing” and it isn’t inherently “good” or “evil”. AI is a tool and every model is different. Like any tool, the impact of individual AI models is ultimately determined by its architects and users. To ensure that AI is wielded with care and deployed transparently, we encourage people to spend time learning about AI so they can approach it analytically, on a case by case basis.

We are realists at heart. Like it or not, artificial intelligence is here to stay. It will dramatically transform every industry, so by investing time in acquiring AI skills, we are better able to participate productively in vital decisions, ensure responsible AI practices, and leverage this technology to create equitable, sustainable solutions across various sectors.

We believe it is imperative that we acquire AI skills to remain informed, active, and engaged participants in this new era. By doing so, we can use our knowledge to challenge the status quo, influence policy and development, and ultimately create a fairer, more just society. 🌐🕊️
